CHENIN BLANC MIXED CASE

More about the Chenin Blanc Varietal

This is the most-planted white variety in South Africa (double the area of Sauvignon Blanc vines). Wine styles range from light, fresh, dry and minerally to medium-bodied wines with a slight sweetness and then there are the luxurious, oaked examples which are concentrated and may have a gingery spiciness to them. The fruity, uncomplicated wines are also often used as a blending partner.

Characteristics:

Entry-level wines which have undergone cold fermentation show apple and guava aromas and flavours. The riper versions have peachy, tropical fruit (pawpaw and pineapple) and then there are the fuller, bolder, wooded wines. Dessert wines are rich in barley sugar, ginger, dried fruit and honeyed characters.

The Body:

Ranges from crisp, dry, light to medium-bodied, high in acidity. Many are off-dry, and some fuller-bodied examples have a rich, creamy texture.

Food Pairings:

Chenin Blanc is an excellent food wine and pairs well with dishes that have a lot of texture or a range of flavours – including fruit in the dishes as well as curry and chili. Rich and spicy dishes are best-matched with wooded Chenin Blancs.

CAP CLASSIQUE MIXED CASE

More about Cap Classique

All Sparkling wines have bubbles but not all of them are Champagnes. Champagne must be made in the Champagne region in France.

Sparkling wines undergo one fermentation in a stainless-steel tank and then CO2 is injected into the tank creating the bubbles. These Sparkling wines can be made from any white or red grape variety or a blend.

Cap Classiques are Sparkling Wines that are made usually from varieties of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The still wine, once bottled, undergoes a second fermentation with a different yeast in the same way that Champagne is made.
